Noël’s Hush! Hush! was inspired by the author’s
own childhood. Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of
a fourteen-year-old Algonquin boy and his dream of living
the life of a traditional trapper. Noël has over
fifty books to his credit and has received many prizes,
including the Governor General’s Award in 1997. Noël
was named Citizen of the World by the Canadian Association
for the United Nations for his work in seeking better
understanding between people. In 2002, he received the
Canadian Senate’s Medal of Recognition for his contributions
in promoting the French language and culture.
